How You Can Help With the Glencoe Auction
BUY TICKETS & ATTEND BUY-IN EVENTS
Tickets for the auction will be available beginining in February 2011. Watch for an order form here. You can also support the Foundation while having a great time by attending any number of "buy-in" events, from an ice cream bike ride or a poker party to a father-daughter dance, a mother-son campout and more. (Scroll down to find out about hosting a buy-in event.)
VOLUNTEER, DONATE AND MORE:
There are so many ways to help make the auction a success, from chairing a committee during auction planning to helping with will call the night of the event. Whatever your interest, talent and availability, we're sure to have a job that's just right for you! Please contact Amber Wagner to find out more. In the meantime, here are a few examples of volunteer positions:
Become an auction committee chair
We've got lots of committees, and each one needs a chair. Check out our volunteers page for a list of committees and chairs from last year's auction, then let us know if any of them spark your interest for this year.
Offer your unique skills for auction
If you'd like to donate an item, service or gift certificate, contact Laura Smith-Walker or download this form. In previous years, people have donated fantastic items including:
- Master gardener consultation
- Three hours of weeding
- Use of beach house for a week
- Home-baked desserts every month for a year
Ask your favorite artist or business establishment for support
Items, services and gift certificates are all popular items. Download a donor form, use the new online form or pick one up at up at Glencoe, or contact Laura Smith-Walker for more information.
Sponsor a getaway package
We're looking for families to help us maximize our profits by co-sponsoring getaway packages. A donation of $100 will complete a 2-night stay in Ashland, complete with Shakespeare Festival tickets, for example, and a donation of $125 will complete a Columbia Gorge package. We have several other "buy one, get one free" deals from area hotels, too. If you or a friend or family member who would like to sponsor a getaway package, a donation of any amount will help. We will be pleased to recognize our generous co-hosts in our catalog and on auction night! Contact Lisa Zuniga with questions.
Donate from your etsy store
Do you have an etsy store? Gain some wonderful exposure for your store while supporting Glencoe by donating an item to the auction! It doesn't have to be big (small items, like cards, will be bundled into "card packages"). We'll distribute a flyer at the auction describing all etsy donations and you'll receive a link and thanks on this website. It's a great way to help out our little community and introduce people to what you sell at the same time!
Volunteer to help with auction preparation or on auction night
Email Amber Wagner or Melissa Gaddis if you’d like to help with one of the many tasks involved in auction preparation or on auction night. Most of the these jobs are easy and FUN! (Really!) Auction night volunteers work in shifts, so you can still enjoy dinner, bidding and mingling to your heart's content.
Host or co-host a buy-in event or party
There are so many ways to help with buy-in events … financial donations, special skills, a venue. Who knows? Last year we needed co-hosts for several events, including the Father-Daughter Dance, the Mother-Son Campout, and the Disco Party. Contact Jeanne Roberts to discuss the possibilities.
Contribute to the World of Wine
At last year’s auction the “World of Wine” sold out in 20 minutes, proving to be an exciting and easy way to raise money. This year we’d love to double the fun by auctioning 150 bottles of wine. Here's how you can help:
- Contribute any amount of money to help the Foundation purchase higher end wines for the event. (Make checks payable to "Betsy Salter" and please write "2011 World of Wine" on the memo line of your check.)
- If you or someone you know is in the wine business, donate one or more cases of wine for the auction.
- If you or someone you know has a well-stocked wine collection, donate or solicit a bottle or more for the auction.
To ensure the World of Wine is a success, we’re asking that the minimum retail value of each bottle of wine donated be $10. Our goal is 5 bottles of premium wine, valued at $75 or more per bottle; 10 bottles valued between $50 and $75 per bottle; 20 bottles valued between $25 and $50; 30 bottles valued between $15 and $25; and 85 bottles valued between $10 and $15 per bottle. The wine will be priced at $20/bottle or $50/3 bottles.
As we get closer to auction day we’ll also need help bagging bottles and setting up the display, and we’re looking to borrow a lightweight, high-volume wine rack (one that can hold about 100 bottles). If you have questions, donations or would like to help with the World of Wine, please contact Betsy Salter. Your help is greatly appreciated!
